Black Economic Empowerment-
As a medium sized company within the South African context we recognise the importance of Black Economic Empowerment and have embraced the various areas of BEE.
During 2013 the holding company donated 15% of it's shares to the KG Employee Share Ownership Trust. All employees of Machinery Contractors are beneficiaries of the trust and distributions are made based on the employees' years of service.
Our preferred investment in skills development is apprenticeships. This provides a longer term commitment and investment with sustainable results. We also ensure that our employees receive the necessary training on a regular basis to fulfill the scope of their work.
Here we tried to marry the development of an enterprise with meeting a company in need. During 2013 and 2014 we provided financial assistance to a local taxi operator to acquire an additional minibus. We also entered into an agreement with the operator to provide personnel transport to our company. The taxi operator transports our employees when they have to work overtime.
Our main focus here is education. Since 2013 we provide bursaries to selected individuals in various fields of study. We also partner with local schools and provide grants to meet some of their immediate needs.
